Tomorrow: Cortizone Injection

4

Written on 10:39 a.m. by My gratitude journal

Tomorrow is the big day for my knee as it will receive its first and hopefully last cortizone injection to help get rid of my tendonitis.

I'm a bit nervous... Good thing 3 doctors told me there were no risk associated with this injection if it was done at a frequency less than 3 times a year.

Needles have a tendency to start vagal reactions on me, so I'm not exactly looking forward to it, but I'm sure it's all worth it.

After the injection, my knee needs to be at rest for a whole week, so I'm skipping soccer again, this Wednesday. Even more importantly, it means, no dancing on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

I was very nervous, tense and scared... but it didn't hurt a bit! The most unconfortable feeling is that I thought I felt the needle go deep but the ssensation remained even after the needle was out so I figured it was the liquid penetrating that I felt.

Of course, when I thought everything went well I left and started feeling unconfortable after standing for 1 minute or 2, but the nurse took care of me.

    From now on:
    - No excess on my knee for a whole week
    - No soccer for a week
    - No fast dancing, spinning or jumping for a week

    Medical follow-up = next Friday

How come you have a knee problem at such a young age? I thought this
    stuff was for older people...

    also thanks for the compliments
    about my blog.

Actually I don't have a knee 'problem' yet... At least not a recurring one. I injured my knee because I was silly and did not stretch it and warm up before a dance conmpetition... So I made the split further and faster than my knee tendons allowed and got them stretched/tore.
Apparently the cortizone should do miracles for helping the full recovery of this injury. We'll know soon!
    Tx for your question
